Bose® Bluetooth® headset update

Why update your headset?

Your Bose Bluetooth® headset is designed to provide years of service with a wide range of mobile devices. Periodic updates may be needed to keep your headset compatible with products released after your headset's manufacture date.

Minimum system requirements

For Windows PC users:

  • 300 MHz processor (1 GHz for Vista or Windows 7) 32 or 64 bit
  • 128 MB RAM (Windows XP); 512 MB RAM (Vista Home Basic); 1 GB (other Vista editions and Windows 7 32 bit); 2 GB (Windows 7 64 bit)
  • Internet connection
  • 30 MB available hard disk space
  • USB 1.1, 2.0 or 3.0 port

For Mac users:

  • OS v10.5 (Leopard), v10.6 (Snow Leopard) or OS v10.7 (Lion)
  • Intel-based processor
  • 512 MB RAM (Leopard); 1 GB (Snow Leopard)
  • Internet connection
  • 40 MB available hard disk space
  • USB 1.1, 2.0 or 3.0 port

Preparation

First, download the Bose SoundLink® around-ear Bluetooth® headphone update application to your computer.

Note for Windows users:

If you have multiple user accounts on your computer, you may be prompted to input administrator credentials in order to run the application.

Once downloaded, the application will prompt you to connect your headset to your computer with a micro USB cable. You can use the charging cable provided in the product package or a similar cable you may already own.

Please make sure the Bose Bluetooth® Headset is fully charged before running the update application.

Start the application

For Windows:

In the File Download window, click Run or Save

If Run, follow the prompts to perform the update

If Save, select a location for saving the file (Bose_BT_Headset_Update.exe). Then start the application from your hard drive and follow the prompts to perform the update.

For Mac:

Wait for your computer to download the file. It will appear on your desktop as a hard drive icon.

A window should open. Drag the update application file to the desktop as indicated (If the window doesn't open, double-click the icon.)

Run the update application from your desktop and follow the prompts to perform the update.

Troubleshooting

Try the following before starting the updater application again:

Make sure your Internet connection is working properly

Make sure the USB cable is connected to your computer and to the Bose® Bluetooth® headset

Press and hold the Volume Up (+), Volume Down (-) and Call buttons simultaneously for at least 5 seconds until the battery indicator blinks green

If the problem persists, contact Bose Customer Support at 1-877-335-2073 (US) or 1-87-701-2175 (Canada).

The Help menu is available throughout the update process. From the Help menu, you can access:
