Adjusting the volume on your system and computer

The way in which you adjust the volume of your computer depends on the type of computer you are using, and on your operating system.

Mac OS® X operating system

From the dock, click on System preferences

Click on the Sound icon

Click on the Output tab

Select "Bose SoundLink Audio"

Adjust the volume so that it is set to at least 2/3 of the maximum volume or higher

Nothing should be muted and the balance control must be centered for best performance.

Windows® 7 or Windows® Vista operating systems

Click the Start button on the lower-left corner of the computer screen

Click on the Control Panel button

In the Control Panel, click on Hardware and Sound

Beneath the Sound icon, click on "Adjust system volume" to open the volume mixer

Adjust the volume so that it is set to at least 2/3 of the maximum volume or higher

To select the audio output

Click on the Start button on the lower-left corner of the computer screen

Click on the Control Panel button

In the Control Panel, click on Hardware and Sound

In the Hardware and Sound menu, click on "Manage audio devices"

In the Playback tab, select "Bose SoundLink Audio"

Once "Bose SoundLink Audio" is selected, click on "Set Default"

Windows XP operating system

Click the Start button on the lower-left corner of the screen

Click on the Control Panel button

Click on the Sounds and Audio Devices icon

Click on the Audio tab

In the Sound Playback section, make sure that "Bose SoundLink Audio" is the default, if not choose it from the dropdown menu

Click the Volume button in the Sound playback section highlighted here in red

Adjust all volumes to at least 2/3 of the maximum volume or higher

Nothing should be muted, and the balance control must be centered for best performance.
