Heart rate readings taken in the ear are comparable in accuracy to those taken from a chest strap. To ensure an accurate reading, the sensor window (located on the left earbud) should be in contact with the skin. If the sensor stops providing a heart rate measurement, try adjusting the left earbud and verifying Bluetooth® connection to your device. If that doesn’t restore function, wipe the sensor window with a damp cloth.
SoundSport Pulse wireless headphones use a variation of the StayHear+ tips, with a cut out to accommodate the heart rate sensor (which needs to be in contact with the ear for the best performance). The earbud design creates a stable yet comfortable fit during an intense workout.
Yes. SoundSport Pulse wireless headphones are protected against splashing sweat or water from any angle. They should not be submerged in water.
SoundSport Pulse wireless headphones have a range of 30 ft (9 m) from the source device. This range may be reduced by physical obstructions, such as walls and doors, or by interference from other electronic devices. Generally, the range of SoundSport Pulse wireless headphones can be described as the room the user is in and the adjacent room.
SoundSport Pulse wireless headphones have up to 5 hours of battery life. Battery life is defined as the number of hours fully charged headphones can be actively used while listening to audio or making a phone call.
SoundSport Pulse wireless headphones will not play music when the battery is fully depleted. But, if the battery is depleted, a quick 15-minute charge provides approximately one hour of play time.
No. The user cannot actively turn off the heart rate sensor; however, the sensor only communicates heart rate when connected to an app. If the left earbud (where the sensor resides) is removed from the ear or if the sensor is not connected to an app, it stops transmitting data.
SoundSport Pulse wireless headphones use a variation of the StayHear+ tips, with a cutout to accommodate the sensor window. Because of this difference in design, the StayHear+ Pulse tips cannot be used on the SoundSport wireless headphones or any other Bose in-ear headphones.
Yes. Heart rate measurements taken from SoundSport Pulse headphones can be communicated to any third-party fitness app that utilizes Bluetooth 4.0 (heart rate service). Most popular fitness apps, including MapMyRun, Runkeeper, Strava, Endomondo, Runtastic and Apple HealthKit, are compatible with SoundSport Pulse headphones.
No. SoundSport Pulse wireless headphones do not employ noise reduction technology. For noise reduction, Bose offers QuietComfort headphones.
The sensor window on the left earbud of SoundSport Pulse wireless headphones should be wiped with a damp cloth after every three to four uses for best performance. While the entire earbud doesn’t require scheduled cleaning, occasional cleaning may be needed. If exterior surfaces of the earbud need to be cleaned, gently wipe with a slightly moist cloth. Be careful not to allow any moisture to enter the headphones through the ports or the USB connector. (Cleaning the door covering the USB with a moist cloth is acceptable.) In addition, be certain not to force any dirt or debris into the ports. Do not blow air into or vacuum the ports or nozzle.
